Labour Day Vacation in Puglia style
May 1st is Labour Day. It is an important holiday celebrated on this date in many countries in the world, including in Italy. Here at Vacation in Puglia we decided that we would take the day off as well, even if it’s only for one day. It’s a long weekend in Italy, so many people were on holiday, but we have to go back to our work the next day. Yes it is work even if we enjoy doing it! Having decided to do a picnic on the beach, we packed a bag of local produce of charcuteries and cheeses and a bottle of local rosé wine and off we went to Torre Pozzella, one of Vacation in Puglia’s favourite beaches in Ostuni. Less then 10 minutes ride and we were there. The sun in May is already quite hot in Puglia, so you can really enjoy yourself relaxing by this quiet beach on the Adriatic sea.
Some kids were actually swimming in the water. Where do they find the guts to jump in is beyond me. I refuse to get in the water before June. But soon, very soon, I will join them enjoying the crystal clear water of Ostuni’s beautiful beaches.
Did you know that year after year the beaches around Ostuni receive the Blue Flag status? It is an international recognition given to certain beaches that meet the standard not only for the water quality, but also in environmental management, education and safety.
