Ostuni is famous for its whitewashed medieval historical centre with view of the blue Adriatic sea. At the top of the hilly city (207m above sea level), the 15th century romanesque cathedral is famous for its rose window. In warmer months, the beaches of Ostuni are not to be missed. Stretching for miles, you can find both secluded coves or long stretch of white sands, always with impossibly crystal clear water. Most visitors and locals end up at the Piazza della Liberta or Piazza Sant’Oronzo, the main square where you find chic cafes, best restaurants and cozy bars. Casa dei Fiori is two minutes walk from this square. Visit our useful links page and our blog posts to learn more about things to do in and around Ostuni Puglia.

Masseria is a historical and typical construction found in Puglia and in other regions in the south of Italy. It’s a fortified farmhouse in a country estate, often surrounded by high stone walls and other fortification features that provided protection during Puglia’s and Italy’s tumultuous past. Masseria Bellavista in Ostuni is a perfect example of an authentic masseria that has been carefully renovated.

Trullo (plural: trulli) is a typical and historical cone shaped construction made entirely of stone that only exists in Italy’s region of Puglia and specifically in and around the Itria Valley and Alto Salento which includes Ostuni. Now you can find them mostly in the countryside, except in the town of Alberobello where its historical centre (a UNESCO World Heritage) consists entirely of trulli. A lot of trulli have been renovated or constructed as holiday rental in Puglia.
